A friend's son went to a former communist country and "bought a wife". We all are of the opinion that once she gets her citizenship she will dump him. How long do they have to stay married before she can apply for citizenship? Once she is a citizen, can that be revoked if she dumps him?? They have been married about a year. Thank you.

Generally, she would need to remain married for 2 years to ensure their is no suspusion of fraud.. however, all she needs to do, if she knows the laws, if claim abuse and she has a get out clause.. ie, she can be there for 6 months, fake abuse and then get a divorce and petition to remain in the US.. then the ex will still be responsible for her if she ever claims welfare.
