What is the name of your state? California Republic
or thats what the flag says :)

OKay so here is the deal. I used to work at a store. I sold computers. I quit over a year ago. Now bought a laptop from there a few days ago. I know their return pollicy, and a quick glance at the recipt shows me it hasn't changed. It is a big national chain of stores by the way.

So i go back in the other day to exchange, i wanted something more expensive, I WANTED TO GIVE THEM MORE MONEY, so the guy started asking me if the battery was charged, i said i didnt know. Now i know a thing or two about computers, this guy doesnt, i worked with him. I wasnt paying attention to what he was doing, it was a very hot day. So next thing i knew he opened up the laptop and said "wheres the hard drive mike?" and i said "i dont know. why are you opening my laptop?" because the return didnt go thru yet, it is my property... so.. i wanted to know where it was too. Long story short.. That person (manager) and the store head manager both basically told me get the hell out of their store and that i can't "pull that **** there" excuse the language. I kind of started to laugh at that point. I knew they didn't like me but i never figured it was personal. I called not the regular corporate number but a special one i had. I told them what happened and that i was a former employee, and i was upset coz i know it was in there.

Now when igot arond to it... i checked out the laptop. I power it on, it boots off the hard drive, the same one the manager said wasnt there. I GO BACK to the store that same day. but when i get there two differnt managers said (they didn't know me personally) "that andy said no" as soon as i walked in. now.... they didnt know my face unless hes going around showing my picture to people but thats speculation. but basically... i know i will be able to return it... i am thinking of just demaning my money back and i KNOW corporate will take care of me. what i want to know is am i able to take action at all against the two former co workers of mine?

thanks for any help anyone here can give. the law is confusing on purpose.... so we can have lawyers :) lol

Are you able to take action against the two employees? Not for defamation, as far as I can see from your post - which is the category you posted your question under. Wait for more responses, however.

The answer is no, there are no legal actions you can take against the employees. Most stores retain a policy that they can refuse service to any persons at any time for any reason or no reason at all, and as managers they have the authority to enforce that policy. Since you were already provided with what you paid for, they no longer had any contractual obligation to assist you in any further away. Obviously, this may conflict with their corporate policy towards excellent customer service, but there are no legal conflicts here.
