I forgot to send my new address to my landlord when I moved out. My daughter and I had both rented apartments from him and had maintained a good relationship throughout our tenantship. When my daughter moved he accepted her address over the phone and sent her deposit back. When my lease ran out I talked to the landlord and decided, since I really needed a larger place, I would move in with my daughter and look for something bigger. He even called and hooked me up with his mother-in-law, who has a house that I'll be renting later this month. Anyway, since he had my daughter's address already and we'd discussed the fact that I'd be staying with her, I assumed he'd send my security deposit to me. On the 22nd I realized maybe he was being a stickler on the written notice so sent him a letter with the address. I'm sure in the lease there is a time limit for sending him that address. Does this relieve him of the obligation to refund my security deposit? There was no damage whatsoever and I'd expected the full amount.
