I live in North Carolina and my husband found a wallet. I thought he was having an affair and I distroyed (burned) the wallet. Well, he actually found the wallet and someone had stolen it and then used one of the credit cards and then thrown it away. I am being told that I can be charged for distroying this property. My questions are...

Can I be charged for distroying property that my husband found if I didn't know at the time that it was lost?
Can I be charged with holding it a week (I wanted to confront the women) before I distroyed it?
