What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Florida

I currently live in Florida. My husband and I have a house here and lived here since March of 2010. He left in January of 2011. I fear that he has gone up to GA where we used to live several years ago and filed for divorce stating that he does not know where I am.

1. Is there any way that I can find out if he has done this? There are several addresses of friends and family that he could use as his address.

2. If he is successful in obtaining a divorce in this manner, what recourse would I have. He knows where I am living because he lived here with me for almost a year. The power was in his name until about April of this year when I had it changed into my name so I can prove that he lived here.

If he files for divorce based on false information, you could have it thrown out - and he might be charged with contempt, as well. You could always check in the counties where he might have filed to see if there is any action pending.

What is your concern? If he wants a divorce, he's going to get a divorce. What do you hope to accomplish?
