I'm from NH but SL operates internationally but is situated in San Francisco. I'll try and explain everything as briefly as possible. For those who are not familiar with Secondlife it is a virtual world where people can own land, build, and operate a virtual avatar to navigate through the world. I owned some virtual land renting it from this couple. I paid 9000 Lindens monthly (Converts to 35 US dollars roughly.)

But what happened was the girl who I paid the money to had some incident occur at my land. In Secondlife there is this land function called Terraforming which basically modifies the size of the land. Well someone raised the elevation of the land, and my 'virtual neighbors' land, raising it to the "sky" as she described it. Here is what she said to me:

[17:25] MyMy Paulse: (Saved Fri Jun 04 13:46:33 2010) waht hav eu done to the land?????
[17:25] MyMy Paulse: (Saved Fri Jun 04 13:46:39 2010) what have u done cas????
[17:25] MyMy Paulse: (Saved Fri Jun 04 13:46:45 2010) OMG
[17:25] MyMy Paulse: (Saved Fri Jun 04 14:06:20 2010) You have been ejected from '~*M&MM~' by MyMy Paulse.
[17:25] MyMy Paulse: (Saved Fri Jun 04 14:14:31 2010) Cas.. u have ruined all of Arnolds parcel build.... you have terraformed all a disaster.. Arnold lost all of his land terraform build he has put in hours to do..... and lost items inside his home... what the hell have u done??? whyy ??? you have caused a disaster... now I have banned u from the islands.. you no longer can enter here..... no refund of moneys,, and now massimo and i must try to rectify Arnolds land back to how it was...... you are not a builder and not a terraformer
[17:25] MyMy Paulse: (Saved Fri Jun 04 14:15:09 2010) please do not try to attempt to notify us.... I am very upset with you atm
[17:25] MyMy Paulse: (Saved Fri Jun 04 16:38:33 2010) You have been ejected from 'MyMy Corazon~' by MyMy Paulse.

A lot of it is Secondlife jargon but she basically accused me of being responsible for it when I had nothing to do with it. She has since terminated our renting arrangement seizing the land back and refusing to refund me my money claiming that it is covering their own liabilities caused by damage to their other tenants, all while being oblivious to the fact I had nothing to do with it. I have records of the transaction of the virtual funds I made to her. I have all her chatlogs and Linden Labs records everything in the system so they can see that.

I reported her several times to Secondlife but was wondering if it's worth notifyin the authorities and if I can do anything. 35 dollars may seem like a paltry sum to fight over, but its not about the money, it's more so about my integrity and this is very unfair to me so wish to see her properly prosecuted for what she did. She claims if I go ahead with any legal proceedings she would "litigate" against it, yet I think she is bluffing. How could she possibly litigate against me? I did not cause any damage to my land, or my neighbors, she publicly allowed anyone to terraform both of our land so it could have been anyone. I have proof of that, I have proof of her saying she won't refund my services and won't allow any reasonable appeal, I have proof of the transaction I made to her. What could she possibly have as a defense? And what is the best course of action I can take? Thanks!

Very funny.

1. I have a real life.
2. In that real life I own a pool that I use.
3. I always walk outside.
4. I always take relaxing drives.
5. I'm in college, I have a very eventful social life.
6. What is the relevance of that? It seems you're implying that I expend a large amount of time in this world when really I use it for commercial purposes.
7. Can we please focus on my issue? Thanks!

Here's a new business opportunity for you:

Secondlife Superior Court

You can preside over all the Secondlife legal arguments.

Other than that, all the secondlife references are basically gibberish to somebody that doesn't play the game so asking if somebody can sue you would take more research than you are most likely going to get for free.

deal with it in secondlife or forget about it is the best I could suggest.

Here's the thing.

Lawsuits ARE about money, one way or the other.

She has done nothing illegal, so if you want to try and sue her in civil court you go right ahead.

It will end up being a very expensive lesson in futility.
