North Carolina. Following Hurricane Florence we hired a Servpro Mitigation Company who's franchise is from Alabama. Our Insurance approved their estimate, they said it would take 5-7 days. They completed the job in 9.5 hours, however, they removed approximately 600 SF of drywall and associated insulation that wasn't supposed to be removed, and left approx. 300 SF of drywall that was supposed to be removed. We called them back to correct the job and they removed more drywall that wasn't supposed to be removed and abandoned the job after 2.5 hours of work the second day. We never signed a contract and they never provided us a scope of work. Now two months later we received a bill for $7,500, where all but $2,000 is fraudulent (work they did not conduct). How should we proceed and what type of lawyer should we consult with?
