Free Bancruptcy costs???

What is the name of your state? Ohio I am very poor. Is there a way to file for Banckruptcy if you have no money except a social security check where at the end of the month you don't even have $1.00 left after paying rent, utilities, food, medicine, bus fare?
I don't have the money for fining fees, attorney fees, anything at all.
Legal aid wont do it because the monthly s.s. check is for $1,015.00 but it doesnt even go far enough for medicine and bus fare,
Is there some kind of program available, because coolection agencies are writing, and threatening. I cant cash a s.s.check in a bank or they will seize my check. I have to cash it at a grocery store. I cant pass a credit check to move to a nicer apartment, where I live now is turning bad, shootings, theft,lots of noise.

My response:

Call the Bankruptcy court clerk. They will inform you of, and possibly send you the pamphlets and court forms concerning, filing "In Forma Pauperis." That way, if you meet the court's minimum guidelines, you'll be able to file your Petition free of charge.

btw- you won't be able to pass the credit check after a bankruptcy either. Of course you can cash your check at a bank, just not at the bank where you have any account. Your SSI is probably considered exempt property anyway UNLESS your debt is back child support which in not dischargeable in bankruptcy.

Why ? WHO would sieze your check ?? SS funds are EXEMPT, NO ONE (except the feds for student loans) can sieze a social security check.

As for the credit check, if the ONLY negative on your reports is an illegally re-aged 1992 debt, then your credit shouldn't be horrible. Look for a place owned by a private party if you can, rather than an apartment complex.
