What is the name of your state? fl

question is this. i ran across a website that offered free music dvds with a paid membership. it said that i could get a copy of any dvd listed an get a medley of any of the artists listed. since this would be a copy of a music dvd is this illegal and is it a copyright infringement. just wondering before I pay for a membership, do not want to get in trouble for this

Thanks

If they are really offering COPIES of copyrighted works (DVD's, music CD's, etc.) they would be in violation of the copyright laws. However, I would think though that their use of the word 'copy' would mean that you would get an original CD/DVD.

Your however

from what i can tell this would be a copy of a music dvd. with more than one artist per dvd or just a copy of a particular music dvd. The dvd would be an original with a different mix of different artists, if they burn a copy from a music dvd, and send it to me for free, the key word is free, it is my understanding from your response that it is an infringement of the copyright laws.

Correct. As long as they do NOT have the copyright holders permission to copy and distributer his/her property, doing so would be a violation.
