I was in NYC city at the Jacob Javit's Center for a tradeshow. I transferred my freight over to alternative courier; the courier I had deliver to NYC is not the same outbound courier back to the origin city, San Diego, California.
The outbound courier cashed my check, but it has been over two month's and I have not received my freight. They do not respond to any emails. I called their 15 different locations and all are disconnected. I sent a certified letter informing them my intent to take legal action if they do not respond to me. The tracking information shows that no one has received the letter, and the post office has attempted several times to deliver, but again no one to receive.
I did look up the businesses information on the New Jersey Secretary of State website for business records. They are a registered incorporated business, but that is all the information that is provided. It is obvious that they are an actual business, but how can I go about getting my freight back. They have over $3K worth of my property.
Do I need to pursue legal action or are there alternative ways to get them to respond, since they are not answering calls, emails, or their snail mail. Are there any New Jersey business resources, like BBB, that I can reach out to in order to get in touch with them? At this point, hiring a lawyer to send a demand letter seems to be pointless if they aren't answering emails, mail or phone. So, if anyone has any tips on ways I can get this businesses attention, through legal action or other resources, please let me know.
Thanks for your time.
