What is the name of your state? AZ

One of my best friends was recently pulled over in Scottsdale, AZ, for a DUI. A breathalyzer showed his BAC was .10. I don't know much more as he was reluctant to give me details. He is a first time offender, and someone told him they might drop the charges since he is a first-time offender and he was only slightly over the legal limit. I know they are cracking down on DUI's in AZ. How likely are the charges to be dropped? If not, how advantageous is it for him to get a lawyer? He's kinda strapped, and if he is charged he doesn't need the extra expense.

Any input is welcome. Please reply. What is the name of your state?

It would be unlikely that the charges will be dropped. If charged, he definitely needs the services of a lawyer.

Note that in addition to the criminal charges he'll have some fun with the MVD over his license.
