What happens if......
This is in the state of Arizona
I'll start at the beginning - I was asked to move in because her husband was dying, then asked by the husband (before he died) to take care of her (48yrs old-good health) I lived with her for 3 years until she decided I needed to help pay to have her house cleaned professionaly. She's suing me for some back rent (the few months I was without a job) a computer she bought (I have the receipt)(no proof it was a gift), and a piece of jewlery (letter from police relative that it was a gift)she gave me (valued at $400 but listed on the suit as $3000 (for sentimental reasons)), and for taking my dog to the vet because he became ill (I wasn't made aware of until i got home and she left a note saying what she had done)
I'm willing to give her the jewlery and computer back to ruduce the debt (even though they were gifts) and pay for the vet bill (even though she didn't ask my permission) and the back rent (I know this is owed and will pay back).
She agreed before we became bitter friends for me to pay back the items (excluding the jewlery) through a debt consolidation company that keeps 15% as a donation (the amount was inflated to participate in this). I made 2 payments before we got into an argument about something and I moved out (before her 30-day verbal notice to move out), I was unable to make the payment for 3 months due to moving and the expense. After missing one payment she filed suit in civil court.
There was no written agreement about rent, or anything else, that I signed. It was all verbal. She did keep a log of what was paid and owed (however never reporting the rent paid as income on her taxes).
I have since made a payment to the debt company and started getting my bills back in order.
She has also failed in reporting to myself items she's filed to the court, she's also failed to file a discloure statement. (will this hurt her case?)
Will she be able to bring items to the pre-trial that I have no knowledge of?
She also is stateing there is more that she hasn't claimed that she will figure out and bring to the pre-trial (can she do this?)
I just want her out of my life and she won't stay out...HELP.
