Iowa, I need help. Last year I helped a friend purchase a deck for his home with my credit card with the understanding that he would pay off credit card. He made 2 payments and I haven't seen a payment since. He now owes $865. I have asked several times for it. Can I take him to court to get my money owed to me. I have witnesses to our verbal agreement and I have copies of the invoices. Please help.

My response:

You have my permission.

What other kind of "help" are you looking for ?

Should we all go to his house and have a "deck destruction" party ?

Should we make him an offer he can't refuse ?

File your Small Claims lawsuit. Have it served on him. Go to trial. Win your case. Simple.
