friends daughter had by rinkydink car lot..HELP!!!!advice please!!!

MISSISSIPPI--Friends daughter(19) purchased a used car from a car lot that lets you finance on premises.. Car needed repair work so she took it in for maintenance. This occurred before 1st payment was even due. Car lot repaired it. Then 3 days prior to 1st carpayment was due, the daughter still owed $300.00 on downpayment.She paid that day $300.oo that day. Her payment was due on the 27th and on the 28th, she went by to see if the used car dealer received her 1st payment in mail., he stated "no". She then left and stopped by the local store. When she came out , the car was gone. She thought it was stolen, but come to find out the used car dealer repossessed the vehicle. Is this legal? She was only one day late on payment.Payment was sent 3 days prior to due date.Now dealer wants to charge high fees for the repossession..Any info/laws would be appreciated! thank you

Repo of used car

What did the finance contract say about reposession when payments were late? Did it state how late the payments must be before repo, or did it give any other prerequisites to the repo?
