Hi-

I am wondering if anyone had gone from SSI to SSDI? I applied when I was 24 for SSI and got it. However, I was disabled at 14 at have never worked bcause of it. I got a letter that said I could go to my Dad's social security and get MEdicare instead of Medicaid. HOwever, when I called the SSA, they said, no I was disabled at 24 because that is what they have on file. HOwever, when I applied my lawyer told me I could not go back further than 2 years.

I have a file about 8 inches high from between the ages of 14 and 24 and another about 5 inches from 24 to present. So how could they say I was not disabled before 22 when I was?

Could a lawyer help me in this? THank you.

Were your parents receiving SSI for you as a minor ?

SSA probably means your disability from qualifying as an Adult .

I'm not sure what you mean by Medicare from your Dads .

You might want to take the letter to your local SSA Office and have them explain it to you .
