A group organization that I am in called Youth and Government that is sponsored by the YMCA went on a trip to Austin for a state competition. In November last year we received a letter from the teacher who was in charge stating everyone's due date it was like this
Dec 1, 2000- a non refundable deposit $50 due
Dec 8, 2000- 2nd installment of $100
Jan 12, 2001-final installment of $100
Jan 11, no refunds to the branch or participant

I met non of these deadlines but instead gave them a check a week later on the 19th of Jan in the amount of $250. The following Wednesday I got sick and therefore couldn't go with them when they left Thursday the 25th. When I called my bank it showed that the money had been taken out the same day. Do I have the right to get my money back? I signed no contracts and there wasn't even a permission slip signed by my guardian for me to go in the first place.

My response:

How old were you on January 19, 2001 ?

And as a follow-up to IAAL's response....

Since your post says you needed parental permission, I assume the check was not yours, but was your parent(s).
And the answer would be... No, you can't get it back!
