What is the name of your state? New Jersey
I took in a roomate for a furnished bedroom. He has kitchen privleges and use of the rest of home. There is no lease or written agreement. We are totally incompatible with our lifestyles. He brings his three year old child to visit and she runs all over. He naps in the bedroom with her. I don't belive this is a place to bring a 3 year old girl. He has taken my things out of the kitchen cupboard and thrown some things out to make room for his kitchen things. He moves things on me and I can't find anything and brings things into my home "junk" he finds and is beginning to put junk in the back yard. I have a lease for the home in my name alone. I want him to leave asap. Someone told me a furnished room renter can be given 4 days notice in New Jersey. Is this true? also he moved in on May 2oth and I collected ten days rent, plus one months rentfor security. He paid me in june for one month and paid a prorated portion of the utilities as agreed. He pays, but he must go. Can I give hime 4 days notice. He really is an irritating person. What is the name of your state? :(

You can give him a notice to quit and if he does not voluntarily move in those 4 days then it's off to court you go for eviction proceedings.

Why would he have to evict him if he wasn't on the lease?
The roomer is not on the lease with the landlord.

The roomer has an oral lease with ALinNJ. If rent is paid on a monthly basis, then he is a month to month tenant. If rent is paid on a weekly basis, then he is a week to week tenant.

ALinNJ must give proper written notice to terminate his tenancy. If he does not move out by the date given on the notice, ALinNJ will have to evict him.
