i saw some furniture at a small company. i gave a $650 check as down deposit and that night i changed my mind. i placed stop payment to check and when person called i explained i changed my mind. now i'm being sued...can he do this. options??? total is $2100.00

My response:

Sure he can !

You entered into a written contract - - your check, his receipt.

Then, you unilaterally breached the contract.

He will win.

I'm not sure about your state or if it varies state to state. Also not to contradict IAAL, but I am certain a 72hr
out exists in many contracts. This happened to me when
buying a car. I changed my mind the next day and
did get all of my money back.
