I recently went for a job interview. This position had been posted since November, 2000 and the interviewers told me that they were having a very hard time filling the position. After receiving my resume, pursuing me very hard, and strongly encouraging me to meet them, I finally decided to come in for an interview. Obviously, upon my arrival at the interview, they recognized my race (i.e., non-white). Due to my common name, there is nothing on my resume to indicate my racial identity.

Two days later, I was phoned at my home and told that position was closed by senior management because they did not want to fund the position anymore.

Is there anything that I can do to further investigate the extremely unusual circumstances behind the position 'suddenly being closed?' I believe that my race was a factor in this sudden change. My race was not obvious to them on the phone - I know this. The position is still posted on their web site.
