I have just had a garnishment placed on my wages. I have been paying this bill for seven months and have asked on atleast three occasions that a draft be automatically made on my checking account. I requested this because my job requires a great deal of travel and the collector does not send reminders. I'm actually a bit relieved that it will automatically be taken from my paycheck and i won't have to worry about it. My only concern is that amount that they can take. I was originally paying $530/month and after begging, they agreed to drop the payment to $340/month which is fine. What should I expect the amount to be and how much argue power do I have to fight a garnishment that's not realistic to my salary and living expenses?
