Thank you for your advice earlier about getting a lawyer for my case. I ended up getting a lawyer after my neck & shoulder started hurting more & more. To refresh your memory ....a man slammed into the back of my vehicle going about 45-50 mph. He admitted fault and gave the police a statement as of such. His insurance company claim adjuster said it was a clear-cut case...definatley this man's fault. Before I decided to get a lawyer I gave a recorded statement to his insurance company. He asked me if I would and I held back at first but then agreed. I made sure to put nothing on that statement but the facts of the case....talked about this man admitting fault and the trauma of the accident. I did mention that I had neck pain and that I wasn't sure how bad it was. He asked if I had anything to add and I said that I was concerned because this man that hit me seemed to not be paying attention whatsoever and that it really bothered me. I said he may have been on his cell phone. Anyway...my lawyer referred me to a doctor and it turns out that my neck is not in good shape. The x-rays actually scared me because they looked so abnormal. My lawyer said they won't even start to settle til my treatment is done. Do you think I hurt the case any by giving the recorded statement? Haven't had a chance to ask my lawyer this yet. And also...he wouldn't take my case if he thought he would lose because they don't get paid unless I win. Any time frame I can expect for this to settle? I have to go to therapy 4 times a week for 2 weeks and then 3 times a week for 2 more weeks. Then the doc takes it from there and looks into my progress. What do you think?

Just jumping in with a thought.

Did you hurt your case by giving a statement? Its hard to say because we don't know what was said. Make sure that your lawyer knows that you gave a recorded statement and make sure that he requests a copy of the statement. Once in his/her hands, you can review the contents of the statement with your counsel and see what he/she thinks.

You know that as a general rule, I do not allow my clients to give recorded statements (and I am sure that IAAL does the same thing). You cannot go back and undo this so don't go crazy with worry. Just get a copy and go forward.

good luck and I hope that you continue to improve with treatment.
