General forum question...not a legal one

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
I've searched through the FAQ's and everywhere else I can think of....to no avail for the answer to these questions:
How do I know it's a lawyer answering my questions on this forum?
(I looked at a couple of profiles as well and I didn't see any info. specific to this question.)
What do the different colored dots next to the names mean?
Questions have been answered by "members" as well as "senior members"
Is that status based on how many posts you've posted?
Thanks so much for your patience.
Yes, this is a free advice forum....but I'd like to know that the advice I'm getting is valid law....ya know?
;) Don't get me wrong......being pro-per I don't know what I'd do without this place. Very appreciative. Thanks!

You don't know who is an attorney. There are attorneys on these forums, there are court professionals, there are other professionals and there are educated laypeople.

The colored dots are a link...click on one and you will see.

Senior member status is based on number of posts, but I can guarantee that anyone that reaches senior status here knows what they are talking about...LOL...otherwise they get run off long before reaching senior status. These forums are not tolerant of people who give incorrect legal answers.

However, you do have to learn to judge what is a legal answer, and what is personal opinion.

Y'know...I've just spent SEVEN whole minutes trying to find out where the posts with the blank dots are located...

Certainly a lot of opinions going around daily. I have a mind for myself but sometimes need a reality check on how I think about things...this forum has been helpful in that arena as well as the legal aspects.
I have encountered a few questions (California based) that I have experienced myself and know the legal answer to but don't respond because I don't want to get scolded. LOL! I often find myself caught up in Family Law codes and laws (I have looked into becoming a paralegal)
I was pro-per during my divorce, restraining orders, contempts, custody, support....YUCK! I find the law interesting. Call me crazy!

Oh dang! Are you going to share or do I get to spend 14 minutes trying to figure it out myself? LOL!
I thought dying my hair would eliminate this problem for myself! Ah well.

Feel free to answer any post as long as it is the correct answer for that state. We only scold if your wrong...and even then only if it is a habit.lol!

Not everybody here feels that way. I was scolded for much less.
It wasn't legal advice, it was a personal opinion. I got 3 lashes!

Also, regarding your "how do I know it's a lawyer" question, I believe that those who claim they are lawyers are either confirmed by admin or banned. Can't swear to that, and the whole confirmation process is apparently a super-secret Double Naught Spy thing, but it's been said.
