When a small claims action is filed against you and you are sent the petition along with forms to complete a written answer, can the suit be settled simply through writing? Am I able to mail a check for the amount I am responsible for to the Clerk of Courts to turn over to the plaintiff? Does the plaintiff review my written answer and either accept or reject it? This whole process is new to me and I am very interested in how the whole thing works.

Thanks for your input!

Respectfully,
Aubrey

As in all of law, check with the clerk of the court.
