What is the name of your state? Ohio

I am free on bond while fighting a felony charge. I need to go overseas for my job. I have been on the job for over 5 years, long before these charges existed. In looking over my bond papers, there is nothing that says I cant leave the country. I have no previous felony convictions. Is there anything to prevent me from obtaining a US passport, to the best of anybodys knowledge?

Are you a US citizen, or eligible to become a US citizen?

Hey Toney:

You are asking two questions in one, and other posters have asked this question before under similar scenarios.

Here is my warning.

Don't confuse the governments issuance of a passport with permission from the court where your case is pending.

Here is some quick info on passports for felons http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=227365

But the people you need to get ok from are your those holding your bond, the court and anyone else you need to report to or are being supervised by. The State department issuing a passport is permission that binds your conditions of release.

Don't assume. "It doesn't say I can't go abroad" DOES NOT mean you can leave the country. Get it confirmed in writing, because I am sure you don't want to find your conditional freedom unexpectedly revoked. That would be worse for busienss that not being able to go on a foreign business trip. ;)
