What is the name of your state? California

My husband picks up his 2 kids at a police station because ex would start fights when picking them up at their home. They have moved and now he drives to a different police station. Question 1 is: Can the custodial parent have a police officer sign a log sheet (she made herself) of the time each parent arrived at the station for the exchange? Many police officers have told her they can't, but she keeps asking different officers. My husband refused to sign since she started this out of anger after a court appearance and lost. Question 2 is: Since my husband is driving further for the exchange, he has had car problems, can he have the CP pay for some of the repairs? He did not want to agree to the change because it would cause us financial problems but did anyway. they did go to court after the CP moved but did not talk about the financial problems.

And most police departments prefer not to be involved in civil exchanges. But, if people feel more confortable they can go right ahead.

They can ask. But, most agencies are not going to get involved that far in someone's dispute. They are not a party to the exchange and are under no obligation to document any part of it. if they CHOOSE to, that's up to them ... though I suggest such cooperation by the department will be the exception and not the rule.

In my small town we have some 20 or so exchanges done each weekend involving out of county people that meet in our town for the exchange. We cannot guarantee having an officer available to stand by - much less sign something. Even in large agencies, this will not be a high priority.

Many police officers have told her they can't, but she keeps asking different officers.
That's up to the officers and agency policy. We tend not to respond at all unless the caller can articulate a crime that has occurred or a reason to believe that a criminal act might occur. We are NOT there to document someone's civil court settlement regarding a custody exchange.

At my agency, the officers would NOT be permitted to sign such a thing.

Question 2 is: Since my husband is driving further for the exchange, he has had car problems, can he have the CP pay for some of the repairs?
He can ask. But I doubt a court would order it. But, I suppose anything can be settled in court ... though that sort of thing (gas and wear and tear) should probably have been worked out earlier.
