My wife told her not to pay for the ticket until she had a clear understanding from her boss about compensation for the trip (housing and meals) she told the client not to purchase them til then. The client purchased them anyways
I agree with Zigner. That is the defense. Your wife never agreed to go on the trip.

I'm still back questioning the theory on which an employEE might be liable for a customers expenses related to something in the course of employment ...and if the tickets are over $500 ..on an oral deal at best?
