Dear sirs:
My friend recently put the downpayment down on a new house she and her boyfriend were buying. At the bank she went to write the check and the agent helping them said "Oh, if you are making the downpayment, and not your boyfriend who the title is going to have on it as the owner, then I must have you sign a gift letter". She proceeded to do so thinking that this would be proof that she made the downpayment, and that the letter was for her protection. The reason it was in his name was because his credit was better. Now they are splitting up and she rented a house while they were waiting to have the house sold. He decided he is going to keep the house and says he doesn't owe her a thing. What can she do?
Thanks for your time?
