What is the name of your state? Texas

I am a 17yr old male. My 18yr old girlfriend and I recently moved into an apartment together. I don't have the option of choosing between highschools, because we only have one in this city. My local highschool's handbook tells me that I cannot enroll myself until I am 18yr old. The handbook states that my parents or legal guardians are responsible for enrolling me into the highschool. Also, who ever is my legal guardian, must have proof of residency within this city. The problem is that my parents don't live in this city, nor anywhere near. The 'age of consent' in this state(Tx) is 17yr for male and female, however I cannot enroll myself, into my local highschool. It is illegal for me to not go to school. That seems like a bad set of laws, but maybe I'm wrong.
The only answer my girlfriend and I have thought of, is to allow her to be my legal guardian, which is weird, but we have decided to do it, nontheless. So, that is what will happen, as long as it is legal.... is it?? If it is legal, how do we go about doing this?

I bet that title for this post will get some traffic- LoL

Were you attending that high school previously? If so, you really don't need to re-enroll so it may not be a problem.

If you weren't attending that high school previously, then your parents may be able to emancipate you so that you don't need a guardian.

Get a consult with an attorney...many attorneys will give free or low cost initial consults.
