I have worked for my company almost three years. I have never gotten a 'bad' evaluation, or put on probation. I was to receive another preformance review this month, plus a small raise. I had made mention of transfering to another dept. when an opening came. No date for that was ever given. Upon returning from vacation this week, I was told I could either 'go quietly' or be 'given notice' by August 1st. I am being terminated. My question, do I possibly have grounds for a 'wrongful termination suit' against my employer? Would I be jepordizing that possible suit if I go to my director and give notice & request my pay? I loath the thought of being 'used' until my Aug. 1 'deadline'.

From what you have said, there is no case of a wrongful termination. You should most definitely stay and be terminated so you can obtain unemployment benefits.
