I live in Georgia. My husband and I adopted his niece. She has been in a mental hospital since Feb, 2001. She was just transferred to a long-term care facility (a group home). She is very violent and chances are they will not allow her to stay any where for too long because of her history of violence. We cannot bring her back into our home. She wants to kill herself and us as well. We live in fear each day that someone will call us and tell us that we have to come get her--that she's better. We just cannot do that. We want to give up our parental rights and turn her over to the state. They have the means to take care of her, we do not. How do we go about dissolving our rights? We want what is best for her, but, we can not afford her care. Can you please help?
