Hello, I'm in CA

My college degree as well as my line of work is in the performing arts. Unfortunately, this is a very unstable line of work. For a few months you can work and make very good money, and then for another few months you can't find a job if your life depended on it. To keep our heads above water I temp here and there when the performing work is scarce. I decided I needed something more stable if I'm going to continue to support my daughter as well as any future kids I may have with my new wife. I decided to go to graduate schol so that I can teach in college while working professionally in my field. In this field I cannot take a correspondence course or take a night school course, they don't have those programs for MFA's. I need to go to a full time program, and the only ones with scholarship and fellowship potential and where the cost of living is low enough to make this workare out of state. My question is: Is it ok to mention this in court when discussing our new visitation and support arrangements. I think it's best for my daughter to stay here with her mother where her school is, and where my extended family is. I just wanted to alter the visitation schedule to keep my continuing contact with her, and to keep our close relationship intact, and the love strong. How will this affect the visitation schedule? Will I be able to get longer summer visits? Maybe all the Spring Breaks? How will it affect my support? What should I put as income (I will be working as well, part time.) Your responses are appreciated.

Pony, Definitely inform the courts about your intentions to move out of state and a new visitation schedule may be set up. I can not guarantee what the new schedule may entail as all courts rule on them differently, it's basically what the parents can agree on. The support you pay will be based on your current income not your future income, so the courts will ask for current income information. Good Luck to you.
