What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Florida
I was sent to a site where it said I could make money on Google. It was just $1.97 to sign up. I looked for terms and conditions prior to hititng the button to pay the $1.97 and there were none. The actual description of how to make money was not displayed either. Just stories of successful people. So I went ahead and hit the button and piad the $1.97. I read the informaiton and found out that this was basically to purchase a space on their site using specfic ad words and to pay for each hit. So of course, Google wants more money. So I was upset, since I knew how this worked. Then I received an immediate email from Google stating "thank you for your trial ... " OMG now I am in a contract for them to take money out of my account! Which, by the way is $17.99 per month for their membership. It did not say trial anywhere when I paid the $1.97 and I didn't see $17.99 per month anywhere on their site! So, I call customer service, closed after 5, so I call them the next morning to cancel and demand a refund and to make sure they DO NOT take out any money. It was a call center so they couldn't give me specifics as to why they didn't tell me it was a trial, etc. They canceled my service but said the $1.97 was not refundable. They are scamming millions of people x 1.97 and no refund. Are they allowed to do that? I worked for a company that said we have a 3 day right of refusal law. Why is Google exempt from that law? Could you help me?

Yes ~ dispute the $1.97 with your credit card company. Any more effort than that and you're wasting your time.

Google isn't taking your money. A company using Google's name is taking your money. The page you came across is a sham, the stories of successful people are made up, and they are copied and pasted on similar pages all over. These "companies" claim to be 'affiliated' with Google because they use Google and AdSense to generate money, but they are not afiliated with Google in any way.

You may have a few headaches getting these people out of your life now that they have your credit card info. Watch out for random charges over the next few months to a year and dispute them when they come up.

There is no 'easy way for your computer to generate TONS of CASH while you SLEEP!' Anyone who says that you can make a couple hundred dollars a day running searches on Google or something like that is just flat out lying.

The actual number is only a few thousand.

Are they allowed to do that?
Sure.

Cold call sales. Did you sell vacuum cleaners or encyclopedias?

Why is Google exempt from that law?
Because Google did not come to your house and sell you a product or service. The 3 day right to recision does not apply when the buyer, you, sought out and purchased a product or service. And it wasn't Google that sold you the info, it was a 3rd party seller. If you actually went to Google, you can sign up and do the same thing for free if you know where to look. There are many examples of folks that sell info to others that can be otherwise found for free if one knows where to look. Things such as foreclosed homes, drug seized autos, government surplus, etc.
