What is the name of your state? Colorado

I went out with a girl for 2 months and we broke up. Two weeks after breaking up, she called to tell me that shes pregnant. I asked if abortion is an option, at first she refused, then i offered to pay for the abortion and she accepted. She lied to me about getting the abortion done, and took the 1000 dollars i payed her then i found out that she had never gotten an abortion. Now she is 4 months and a half, wants to keep the child, and wants me to be a part of the child. She said she talked to a lawyer and he gave her some options. I would like to know what her and my options are legally, and if there is a way for her not to bother me or my family anymore for now and in the future. Thank you.

Let me make you an offer you can't refuse, NO :D
You cannot force her to get an abortion, and when the baby is born and proven to be your child, you will at least be responsible for child support, which in CO may include college, if you want any type of custody or visitation, you will have to petition the court.

Nope, there's no way. What you need to do is once the child is born, ask for a court ordered DNA test to prove the child is yours. If not, you will never have to see or speak to her again. If so, you will have the right to petition the court for custody or visitation and support and so will she.

Just to clarify a bit...

You dated a woman for two months.
You believed her when she told you she was pregnant by you.
You gave her $1000 for an abortion, and she just kept the money. Now she wants you to believe her again with the lawyer story.

Knock,knock.......anybody home?

Do you have proof she is pregnant? Like a OBGYN document or any medical documentation from prior 4 months? Proof of the conception window dates? What she did with the $1000? How did you come up with $1000 as the amount? Did you come up with that amount? Or did she come up with that amount? If she did, did she provide you with all the details on the process and costs she gathered to arrive at the cost?

Any info on her sexual history? (close proximity to your envolvement with her?). First pregnancy for her? Are you the only "boyfriend" in question? Is she with somebody else now?

Has she asked you for more money?

Just my opinion, but I would put proving there actually is a pregnancy as a first priority, then proof it is yours if she is really pregnant, as the next step. Then spend your next $1000 on an attorney or PI instead of giving it to her.

I would say that you need to take responsibility for your actions... If you weren't ready to have children then you should have used protection or just not had sex at all. It was very wrong for this girl to take your money and say that she was going to have an abortion and now say that she is having the baby and wants you in the childs life. I would hope that when you gave her the $1000 that it was a check or another way that you could prove that you did give her money and not cash. I'm more then sure she will take you to court for child support and there is nothing you can do about it if indeed this is your child. I'm not sure how old you are (young I'm sure) which will make this very hard on you. You should learn to look at it as a blessing and even though you aren't with this girl I would suggest that you are in the baby's life. This is something that you don't want to regret in the future. I would also suggest speaking with a lawyer and finding out what your options are.
