What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Pennsylvania

Alright, so long story short I went on a formal cruise with an organization that I am a member of. I know this is going to make me sound like a complete degenerate, however I got really drunk and broke a divider in the bathroom. The company sent an invoice saying I had 30 days to pay a $500 fee for repair for the divider or they would send me to a collections agency. While I do am not disputing that I should be charged for the damage that I caused, I feel as if $500 is a gross overestimate.

What steps (if any) can I take? I am a broke college kid and do not have the money.

Thanks guys!

You probably didn't account for the labor costs.

Your current financial situation is not an excuse to avoid penalties for your choices.
