Hi, I have a small claims question:
A private party had agreed to sell me his car. All terms had been agreed on beforehand, including the price of $3,000. My only condition was to take it to a mechanic for an inspection, which I did. He then backed out later that same day, with the reason being that his brother was "pissed" and would rather sell it to someone else for another price.
Our agreement was verbal but I also saved E-mail messages containing his confirmation of the deal and price, as well as the message with his sudden change of mind. My suspicion, for various reasons, is that he backed out after the inspection intentionally in order to get a free ride off my $100. Even if he didn't, he still violated an agreement. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
