What is the name of your state? Ohio

My grandmother had been living with my aunt. She has now put her in a nursing home. My aunt is trying to keep everyone away from her including my aunt's sister (grandmother's oldest daughter). She is telling everyone that my grandmother is dying (although she seems to be doing well except for not eating very much) and that hospice has been called in. She said the nursing home is calling her all hours of the day and night to come up there to "help out" because they can't handle my grandmother. Isn't long term care facilities supposed to be able to deal with patients? Why would they have to call a family member constantly to help out? Also my aunt said everyone is upsetting my grandmother by visiting. Yet the only time she gets aggravated is when my aunt is around. We have suspected for some time that my aunt was not treating my grandmother well although my grandmother would say everything was fine. My aunt has power of attorney and therefore my mom (my aunt's sister) cannot get any information without my aunt consenting to it and she won't do it. I have this sincere feeling that my aunt has been abusing my grandmother and that she is trying to make my grandmother die a slow and lonely death. What can we do?

Yes. So, what EXACTLY does the staff need help with granny for at all hours of the day & night?

See above question.

The grantor, granny, still can give your mom information.

What proof do you have other than a sincere feeling?

Why wasn't anyone else helping Granny and watching out for her BEFORE ???

How was Granny over the past year when you guys stopped off to see her and give her a hug ?

What did Granny say when you called her once a week, over the past year or so ?

What medication(s) is Granny taking ?

What is the reputation of the Nursing Home ?
Is the NH clean ?
Is it staffed with RNs ?
Is there a Dr on call ?

Is Granny's health/well-being at risk in the NH ?
or, is this simply a fight about what assets Granny may leave ?

Could you, or your Mom, take better care of Granny than the NH or aunt ?

Has the NH said that Granny appears to be physically abused ?
Have you checked out the last audit of the NH ?
