What is the name of your state? iowa

My daughter is losing custody of her two sons to her ex-husband and his wife, because of drugs and emotional abuse. I am very close to my grandsons (ages 8 & 10). I know the boys are better off where they are and I am trying to help my daughter with her problems but she won't accept my help right now. The step-mother will let me see them only under her supervision. She will not allow me to take them anywhere alone. There are no court orders as to my visitation yet. What kind of Grandparent's rights can I fight for???

You're probably going to have a rough time getting much of anything. The stepmom, however, really has no say. What sort of relationship do you have with your former son-in-law? I suspect the concern is that you will allow your daughter to spend time with the kids, possibly unsupervised. I'd really suggest you try working with him on this one - it will be better for the kids and will give you more access. Perhaps with time they'd be more amenable to unsupervised time for you?
