My 80 year old mother who is blind and deaf lives in government subsidized senior housing (HUD), in NY State. She has life insurance through MetLife. It seems they gave her 63 shares of stock in their company as a gift.
About two week ago she got a letter in the mail giving her the option to roll it over into another company. She was not aware
of it until she got the letter, but evidently she's had these shares since 2000.
When she was getting re-certified the other day she wanted to report it but got scared. She is afraid she will get evicted or something for fraud for not reporting it. What can she do?

How much are the shares worth ?

Do they have a cash value ?

She should really talk to someone ( a social worker at the Housing ) about this .

I doubt she will be jailed .

I assume this is life insurance .
