I filed my I485 on 2/28/00.

Joined another employer on 4/6/01 ( more than 180 days ).

Leaving this employer by 6/30/01. Meaning this employer will terminate my H1 by this date.

How long can I stay in US without having a JOB and pending I485 status ?

If I get an EAD, can I stay with/without a job ?

Is it true that I can only stay 10 days after I leave my Employer ( with I485 status continuing )

30 days normally.

What bases was the I485 filed for? How long had you been in the US prior to the filing?

Thanks for your response.

I have been in US since December 1996. The I485 was filed from my company's lawyer. I worked as a Software Engineer
and used to work for clients on software contracts. They
sponsered my GC based on certain software skills.

Further in this regard, last week, that lawyer sent me the letter that they have withdrawn the I140 and I have not received 485 approval. What do you think about my chances of getting the approval of 485 and receiving GC( considering that AC21's rules and regulations have been released by INS very recently ) ?

If your old company withdrew the application then you are in limbo and either need to find someone else to sponsor you, or make your own application. I seriously suggest you take all your papers to an immigration attorney for review.
