DO NOT discuss the in camera with your son except to tell him that he will be talking to someone who wants to know his HONEST thoughts. And he needs to tell the truth. Other than that, say NOTHING about it to him.
How often to the courts go with the recommendation of the GAL, especially if they recommend no contact?

GAL recommendations ARE taken quite seriously by judges. However, a recommendation for no contact is also very unusual, so I think it would be difficult to say. A local attorney would be in a better position to give you an idea of how your local courts tend to look at GAL recommendations.

Here, on this very thread, is a "local attorney" advising her about this very issue!!

Protection orders are also very unusual.

Divorce papers (2014) that do not have parenting time for the noncustodial parent are also very unusual.

A local attorney has already weighed in. I think it would be wise for @WonderingGALohio to pay more attention to that local attorney than you or me - neither of us are in Ohio, nor members of the OH bar.

The GAL on the case told me he is recommending no contact, but fears when or if the courts concur, that my ex will lash out and the GAL was asking what my securities are at home for my family. We go back for another Pretrial on 2/6. Can the magistrate make a call then and there? Or does it have to go to trial?

I'd be more concerned about this. Whatever happens in court (and none of us can predict this), make sure that your household is as safe as possible.

Well, the GAL said that one day he thinks that he should not have contact and one day he thinks that my son should at least know his dad. So... he could not make a clear recommendation. Instead, he is saying that we should go see another Dr. who will see us in therapy sessions separately, including my son, and he can make the recommendation. How come I feel like people do not want to come out and say no contact for some reason? Why is this all being entertained? Do I go and pay for another specialist or say no and just go to trial?
