For the State of Maryland, does anyone know if there is some type of legal form for guardianship of some kind of rights to a minor child of 4 years old who belongs to a roommate, but the roommate needs support assistance. I am already paying for the childs education, health insurance and 80% of all other support. If there is no such thing, can this be done over a contract or maybe mediation? I need something in order for me to register the child for kindergarten.

I think we need more information on this Cyn. Why does your roomate need support assistance if you are already supporting this child? Why doesn't your roomate enroll the child in school herself (I assume this is another woman). Where is the biological father and have his rights been terminated? Would they be willing to give you custody or do an adoption? I'm sorry, I don't know of anything that would hold up as legal unless it is signed by a judge. Children can't be contracted or willed away. May I ask what else is going on? Perhaps someone in a similar situation may be able to help you. It sounds like you are the only one that cares...
