What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Washington State
I thought I would do a friend a favor. She was homeless and with no job. I offered her my son's residence for a week or two until he came home. It was with the understanding that she would move out after two weeks. I considered her to be a "guest". She promptly moved her boyfriend and two dogs in. The dogs began damaging the home and soiling the newly cleaned carpets. When my son tried to move in, she informed him that she was legally a resident. She had all the rights to stay. She had never paid a cent of rent. She called the police and one of them said we had to let them stay until we legally evicted them. The boyfriend moved out, and she moved most of her things out while the police were there because we would not let the dogs stay. She refuses to return the keys and has a few of her things still there. She comes and goes at will, waking the newborn baby and the household. Is it legally necessary to evict someone who was just asked to stay a couple of weeks as a guest? She also is eating everything in the refrigerator, which is a very limited amount of food from our economic status at this time. Any suggestions? She has an out of state drivers license and her car is not legally registered in WA, either. What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
