My husband is an inmate in the Colorado Dept of Corrections. He was just convicted of an internal Class I charge and now is being threatened with the DOC brining in the DA to file a street charge (new felony) against him which would result in a habitual criminal designation. Please tell me (1)what effective recourse there is against the overstated, unfair DOC charge; and (2) how best to fight the street charge and habitual criminal possibility. Thank you for your quick reply!

The best way is to appeal the internal DOC conviction. I don't know what the time limit is to file an appeal for that, but you don't want to miss it. So speak with a criminal defense attorney near you about this. You can find one at attorneypages
