What is the name of your state? Washington.

My car was fined and impounded because the front part of my car edged into a zoned handicapped space.

I parallel parked my car on the side of the street. In front of my parked car, was a handicapped zoned off space for one handicapped vehicle to parallel park. In that handicapped space, there already was a small mercedes convertible that did not take up the entire space. This car is always parked in this space.

ABout 1/2 foot of the front of my car protruded into the handicapped space. There was at least two feet between my car and the handicapped car. The space in front of the handicapped space was a driveway so there would have been no trouble for the handicapped car to pull out. The owner of the handicapped car called the police and complained. My car was ticketed and impounded.

Is there a chance for me to contest this? My points are that:
1) the handicapped space was intended for 1 vehicle only, which was occupied already when I parked my car. I didn't park in that space.
2) The way that I had parked hadn't inconvenienced anyone in any way.

Thank you

Ahh! The infamous "Let Me Just Stick the Tip In" defense. It's worth a shot, I suppose, since you have no (valid) legal grounds and you just might get a sympathetic judge. On the other hand, if you happen to draw a disabled judge, expect the book to be thrown at you.

In the future, the entire handicapped space is just that - an entire handicapped space. Stay out of it and you won't get any tickets.

Remember that for later

1) the handicapped space was intended for 1 vehicle only, which was occupied already when I parked my car.
Exactly - and that's what kills you

I didn't park in that space.
You already said you DID park in the spot. You are (in legalese) toast.

Geez....I will say this one time....Handicapped parking is oversized for reason...and one reason only.....BECAUSE THEY MAY NEED THE SPACE!

You impeeded on the space....you got ticketed....your fault.

Pay it. Move on.

And it don't matter about the space you had....If your vehicle couldn't fit...then Oh-well. Your problem.

 Some people...
