Hello,

My ex-husband and I just went to court yesterday over him being in arrears for child support. In addition, he filed to have child support lowered because both children are now in school and there are no longer daycare costs. All of this was covered yesterday in court and went relatively smoothly, or so I thought…... Last night I received 3 harassing phone calls within 10 minutes on my cell phone (2 of them I let go to voicemail) from my ex-husband’s wife. They were ridiculous, belligerent, unfounded, and frankly, a bit psychotic. The final voicemail stated that I was no longer allowed on their property to pick my children up and I better not ever go anywhere near her. She said that my ex and I are to designate a meeting place to exchange the children since I am no longer allowed near their home.

I am still in shock over this. My ex-husband has always been, and still obviously is, a very bitter man. But I have had very very few conversations with this woman, and all have been very brief and very civil. Based on her display last night, I feel very uneasy having my children around her as their step-mother (they are scheduled to be over at his house this weekend) and I am unsure what will happen when I attempt to pick them up today at 6:00pm after work.

Is there anything that can be done? I’m just dumbfounded over this and very concerned for my children. What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Obviously things didn't go the way that she hoped, in court. She is angry and frustrated and who knows what her husband has told her. She may very well calm down in a few days.

Its there anyone else who can pick up the children for you today? That might be a better route just this once.

What exactly does the court order state regarding pickups and drop offs of the children as well as transportation?

i'd go. but then i'm as stubborn as they come. :p

OP, follow your court orders. if crazy lady even tried to cause a scene, leave, then come back with a police escort.

I am repeating the above AGAIN. I still need an answer.

Stepmom cannot overrule the court orders. If you are to pick up the children at his home per the court orders then that is what happens. If stepmom interferes then file contempt of court against dad. Also, depending on the interference, file a restrianing order against stepmom.

Take your court order with you however.

I just looked and it does say "Mother shall pick the children up from father's home at 5:30 Monday - Friday".

A little background ** He is a teacher and we had it set up so he picks the kids up from school since he leaves at the same time they do. In lieu of after school care ,they stay will him until I can get them after work which is usually around 5:30.**

Then guess what -- stepmom can NOT state you cannot pick up at father's home just because she wants to be a PITA. She would need a court order to overrule you arriving and picking up the children from Father's home. Take your court order, go to FATHER'S home and pick up your children. If they do not release the children, call the police, show them the court order and THEN the next day file contempt for stepmother's interference. Father will pay the price.
