What is the name of your state? Texas
Recently the company that I work for hosted an event that required the employment of local law enforcement officers. While the event was going on I had met most of the officers as my job required. One particular officer and I found that we had a lot in common with our families, children and other interests...we had many conversations throughout the week long event. BTW I am female, he is male. At no time during this week did we do anything but talk in plain view of all the other employees. My problem is one fellow employee who holds a very high position (2nd to the top!) who has tried to black ball me since the day I took this position. I am blonde, blue eyed, small frame but I always have a smile on my face and talk to everyone, male and female alike. If I have a problem I leave it at home, I don't engage in gossip nor do I respond when someone comes to me with gossip. I have many more male friends than female friends both at work and outside. This other female walked up between our conversation on the last day and turned her back to me and whispered something in this officers ear and he immediately had a look of shock on his face. After she left he immediately come to me and started to explain that he had been married for 20 years and was happy in his marriage and if there was something that he did to make me think that he was interested in pursuing something with me that he was very sorry. I WAS MORTIFIED! I NEVER thought that he or I gave that impression to each other at all! When I asked what was going on he then told me that she came up to him and told him to stay away from me that I was trouble with a capital T! He and I have resolved this but she continues to bash me via gossip and cruel rumors. I reported this to my boss who is basically the number 2/3 guy, kind of equal to her but he has done nothing as of yet. I feel that this is just mean jealousy because I am younger and have an easy time making friends, came into this postion and turned it around and gave it some class and respect. I also know I have a case but don't know exactly what kind. I also know that I have to do something about this because the stress is too much for me at work and away and I have just held it all in and kept a big smile on my face. Any thoughts?
