I have worked at my job for 10 years. My co-worker for 2 years. She mimics me, says things under her breath to me as we pass, and seems to be continually challenging me to confront her. She has called me a "B" and told me that I was rude. Our personalities are definitely conflicting.

I am currently ignoring her and avoiding her at all costs. I do not talk to her unless absolutely necessary and only relating to business issues, yet I am increasingly apprehensive to even broach her on any subject as I am opening my self up to her sharp tongue and abusive personality.

This is creating a very uncomfortable work enviroment and seems to dominate my entire work day.

Please help me to find a solution to this situation.

Thank you.

My response:

Take the first step. Buy her a little trinket of some sort, along with a nice card, telling her that you'd like to be friendly with her and have a better working relationship. Leave it on her desk, and watch how things improve dramatically !! However, if that doesn't work, punch her lights out.
