What is the name of your state? Illinois
I work for a city and the Mayor is harrassing me. My son had to call the cops on him and he has left awful messages on my phone at work and slandered me at meetings . He recently came into the city hall and pointed his finger at me and threatned me. I do not know where to turn as I know things he has done and doing and do not want him to keep getting by with them. I do not know who to call . The states attorney was investigating him and came to me. I told them what I knew and all of a sudden they are good friends and I think have told him about the investigation, If anyone knows who or what I can do please let me know.
Thank You

question ...

Who is the mayor's boss? Keep records of the mayors phone calls. Bring them in for his boss to hear. You need to start collecting evidence to build your case. You need hard facts that can be proven. Have any of your co-workers had this issue with him?

Isn't it time you started wearing a bigger shirt. This one is cutting off the circulation to your brain.

The mayor's boss, in any city in this country, is the city council. It's a no-brainer.

I do not know who to call . The states attorney was investigating him and came to me.
Then let them investigate and stay the hell out of it. You can do nothing at this point but put yourself between an ongoing investigation and the mayor.

I told them what I knew and all of a sudden they are good friends and I think have told him about the investigation
And there is nothing inherently illegal nor unethical about telling him he is the subject of an investigation. In fact, he would know with their first questions to him.

Aside from all this, you have not stated one fact from which to base a valid legal option on. HOW has he slandered you. What was the specific threat? Did anyone else overhear it or is it just your interpretation of the event?

Remember, proof works both ways. And you have presented none in this forum.

I have plenty of proof and I am not the only one with problems with him. He is always doing something illegal but no one cares. It's called small town corruption.
