What is the name of your state? IL
We have a neighbor who is 80 she probably weighs 70lbs soaking wet and mows her lawn in a bikini (stop laughing it is not even funny). The home we currently live in was purchased from her she built it as a rental property and because of some legal problems with some other neighbors in the subdivision was unable to rent it out so she was forced to sell it. Our problem is she has been harrassing us since day 1. She started out by leaving us notes about our gutters on our home. She told us either we needed to remove them or she would come remove them for us because the water run off from the drain spout was killing OUR pine trees. When we refused she hired a tree cutting service to come out and cut the pine trees down (luckily I was home and able to stop them as they began cutting). We had the lawyer send her a cease and desist letter. Her next move was to put an old rusty ironing board out on our front lawn by the pine trees to keep us from mowing because she had planted daylilies there when she owned the property and she wanted them to grow. We went through a week of throwing the ironing board back and forth on eachother's lawn until she finally went out and bought driveway reflectors which we promptly pulled out of our lawn, She came over to retreive them and we warned her that if we found them back in we were disposing of them. Sure enough the next morning they were back so we threw them away so she called the police on us. (There is an easement agreement between us granting her a driveway for ingress and egress up to her home and in return we have water rights to a retention pond on her property.) The police came over and we explained the situation and they took care of it for us. Her next move was to call a septic system company to have them retreive water samples from our septic system for her because she wanted to test it and make sure we didn't have a garbage disposal. (stop laughing)...I got a phone call bright and early from the septic system guy letting me know he was on his way (imagine my confusion since we just had our system pumped out 2 weeks before) he then informed me that he didn't get the call from me he got it from the neighbor who made it sound like she owned the property. I informed him that he had better turn around and and go back to the office because unfortunately if he stepped foot near my septic system I was going to be forced to call the police. He called her and told her he could not come out and she promptly called the police on me. The policeman was laughing by the time he got to our home because her reason for calling was to call the police on me before I got a chance to call on her. The officer explained that he had to respond to the call and we spent some time chatting pleasantly. he left and happened to catch the septic system guy coming into my subdivision as he was leaving so he proceeded to turn around and follow him to see what he was up to and stopped him in front of my house. I explained to the septic system guy that under no circumstances was he to go anywhere near my system and he explained to me that she had been calling into the office screaming every 5 minutes for the last 3 hours and they needed to do something so the officer escorted the septic guy up to her house to explain to her that she could not have a sample of my water and to leave everyone alone. She then went away for 3 months...ahhh heavenly peace and quiet...we honestly though she was gone for good after all everyone had been telling us for 2 years (from the police to the zoning board) that she was old and would be dead soon. We bought our kids 3 baby ducks and hand raised them and when they got big enough let them live on the pond...imagine our suprise when she popped back up...sigh...We have water and shore rights to the pond but because she is so impossible to deal with we never used them...now that we have ducks on the pond I have to go down and feed them twice a day. She called the police on me for being by her pond. I of course knowing that it was coming had the agreement on hand for the officer when he knocked on the door. He asked me to fax a copy to the station and he attatched it to the report. She continues to yell out her window at us everytime she sees us down there and is constantly taking photographs of us by her pond. Her latest move is to stop her car on the driveway behind me while I was at the shore line feeding the ducks and to tell me since the police won't do anything abut me (and I quote) "maybe she should just shoot me to keep me away from her pond".We are quite frankly at our wits end with her, we do not verbally confront her, we are never rude, we actually completely ignore her which unfortunately seems to make her even more irate and in the mean time she happily uses her driveway everyday while we have to take this harrasment everytime we go down by the pond. I am at the point where I wish she would take a shot at me just so we could have her locked up where she needs to be. Is there something legally we can do to stop this horrible behavior ?
