What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? AZ

I am a Property Manager in AZ. The last Property Manager got fired because she was useless and could not follow the Brokers instructions.

A few months back, a past client files a complaint against me personally with the Department of Real Estate. I responded stating that I was not the Manager at that time, that i was not even working for the department at that time, and provided them with details of who was.

Now, the investigator wants receipts, ledgers etc. I sent what i had readily available but thats not enough. They want more. I passed it onto my book keeper who was suppose to write to them and say she had their request and would provide them with receipts etc but then she moved and never done any of it.

The complaint was for failure to disclose. Common sense tells me that if a person was not working for a company at the time of the offense, that surely they could not be responsible.

Unfortunately, common sense is not too common and dispite all this, i am getting the investigator hassling me for more paperwork.

I run a department which is very short handed. After the book keeper left, i took over the day-to-day running of the accounts as well as running the department. I also run a part time business which i run after hours and which i need to pay my bills since my wife is very ill and won't be able to return to work for years. I currently work 16-18 hours a day. If i stop what i am doing to send ADRE their info owners won't get paid, vendors won't get paid.

I think i have done all i have had to do to satisfy anyone with common sense that i could not be held responsible for the claim made against me. In my opinion, the complaint should have been dropped immediately.

I'm sending the latest request for info since its not a huge deal. But i'm expecting more requests for receipts etc.

Could i simply refuse to send any more information? What are my options? Its got to the point where i feel like telling them where to stick my license. If they suspend/cancel my license, do i have any recourse?

Thanks

Background info: Our company had a program for the people building the border fence between AZ and Mexico. The people building the fence got a credit card to stay in a hotel. We furnished homes and rented it to them running their cards. Instead of a hotel room, they got a house and their families were allowed to join them. The manager disclosed this program to the owners but never got anything signed. The past client claims we made lots of money and never disclosed it. Truth is we made hardly anything since we paid for utilities, furniture, cleaning, repairs etc. All this happened prior to me being hired and had i did it, i would have done it differently.
